SAILING ITINERARIES

Langkawi, Malaysia

Suggested 12 day Cruising Program

The Langkawi archipelago sits off Malaysia’s northwest coast, in the Andaman Sea. This cluster of islands offers plenty of protected anchorages in all wind and sea conditions, and their northern beaches and bays are among the finest in the world. Langkawi is a gorgeous cruising area, featuring high cliffs and hundreds of potential excursions. Swim in a freshwater lake, or visit the wildlife sanctuary to see sea eagles and monkeys. The islands of Langkawi will serve as your gateway to unspoiled paradise and an unforgettable sailing adventure.

Day 1: Departure from Royal Langkawi Yacht Club

Depart from the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club and plan an early morning sail towards Pulau Timun.

Day 2: Pulau Timun

Anchor in the small bay on the sandy beach at Pulau Timun. Visitors often spot monkeys and wild pigs on this beach. Make your way to Pulau Paku on the eastern part of the island and explore even more natural wonders in the caves there.

Day 3: Dayan Bunting - Langkawi

Spend the night at Pulau Gubang Darat on Dayang Bunting after a day excursion to the largest freshwater lake on Langkawi - the center of some very mysterious legends. After your short hike to the lake, you'll want to cool off in the refreshing waters.

Day 4: Pulau Payar

Pulau Payar is a heavenly marine park with a gorgeous coral reef. Snorkelers can meet fish of all kinds under these crystalline waters, and sunbathers can spend all day lounging on the sand.

Day 5: Pulau Singa Besar

Pulau Singa Besar is a wildlife sanctuary where the smallest deer in the world (mouse deer) and wild pigs roam free.

Day 6: Awana Port Malay

Spend the morning on Singa Besar, then sail off to Awana Porto Malay, where you'll spend the night in a small anchorage.

Day 7: Awana Port Malay

Awana Porto Malay is an easy sail from Telaga, whose Perdana Quay harbor park features plenty of dining options and a walkable promenade.

Day 8: Tanjung Rhu

Sail North to Tanjung Rhu, where you'll find several gorgeous beaches and dramatic views of the surrounding islands. Anchorage is available at the Datai Hotel.

Day 9: Kilim River

Kilim River Geopark almost feels like another planet, a breathtaking mixture of mangroves and mountains. Dine on fresh local fish at nearby restaurants, including the famous Fish Farm.

Day 10: Pulau Langgun

Pulau Langgun is a fabulous anchorage with classic Asian limestone islets you'll have to see to believe.

Day 11: Pulau Bumbon

Pulau Bumbon will be your last anchorage, and it offers everything you could want in an uninhabited beachfront paradise.

Day 12: Back to Base

Sail back to Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, where you'll say farewell to magical Malaysia - until next time!
