DEPARTURE BASES -Port Corbières & Vieux Port

Port de Corbieres consists of a large basin protected by an 800 metre long breakwater at the extreme NW end of the commercial docks and basins of Marseille on the Mediterranean coast of France. It lies around one mile W of the two basins of Port de L'Estaque. The basin contains a series of six pontoons which are allocated to a number of yacht clubs and private societies. Port de Corbieres is entered from E through the Passe de la Lave, a 50m wide channel between the long breakwater that protects the whole coastline off Estaque and the 800 metre long breakwater of the marina basin itself. The arrivals pontoon is situated under the crane.

The original harbour of Marseille, the Vieux Port, is the biggest marina with over 3,000 berths. Marseille Vieux Port is the oldest basin in the harbour of Marseille on the Mediterranean coast of France. Dating from the 15th century, it was only superseded by the commercial docks in the 1840s. Today it is operated as a marina and tourist attraction, surrounded as it is by the old quarter carefully reconstructed after World War II. he Vieux Port is entered from WSW between a long breakwater to port, the Digue Sainte-Marie, and a prominent lighthouse on the headland of Pointe de la Desirade (and, further in, the square Fort St Jean) to starboard. The arrivals pontoon is situated also to starboard just after the entrance, in front of the capitainerie
